Dr. Leigh Burkett was born and raised in Northeast Tennessee. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Wake Forest University and her DVM from the University of Tennessee. After spending 6 years in general practice following graduation, Dr. Burkett and her husband (a board certified veterinary dermatologist) started a dermatology specialty practice in Southwest Florida in 2000. Her special interests in veterinary medicine include dermatology and allergies.

Dr. Burkett lives in Southwest Florida with her husband and 2 teenagers, 2 cats and a Standard Poodle. In her spare time, Dr. Burkett enjoys travel, watching soccer, reading, painting and board games.
