To find out if he does have a true food allergy, you would need to feed him a novel protein diet (rabbit, duck, venison) strictly for 8-10 weeks. Before making that huge commitment, I suggest taking him to the vet for an exam and consult. You can discuss a food trial further or other options such as antihistamines or a referral to a dermatologist.
