A. I would not recommend giving your dog ibuprofen because it can cause toxicity in animals. Aspirin has also been shown to cause gastric ulceration in animals. I would recommend consulting with your veterinarian in regards to treating the arthritis with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, such as Rimadyl. There are also joint supplements for dogs that contain glucosamine and chondroitin to promote healthy joints, such as a product called Dasuquin.
