A. Make sure that the coat stays brushed and dry. Moisture and knotted hair can cause matts which upset the skin underneath and can lead to infection. You can also try a bit of coconut oil on the skin if it looks red or dry. If the skin opens like a sore or you are noticing a bad odor a moisture dermatitis may have occurred and a trip to the vet is best. You might need an antibiotic to clear up a skin infection or "hot spot".
