A. Yes, all dental procedures in pets are performed under anaesthetic, even descaling and polishing because it is very unlikely that pets keep still long enough. It is also safer to use a general anaesthetic as it prevents them to inhale the fluids produced during the procedure. This is what we generally do in first opinion practice in the UK, let' s see if anyone else from the U.S.A. has got different experiences.
