A. By congestive heart failure we mean basically heart failure, which is what happens when your cat's heart function is significantly impaired by cardiomyopathy. The blood flow through the heart and the output from the heart is compromised. Congestive heart failure is secondary to different kinds of cardyomyopathies, some of them are congenital and their development is linked to a genetic defect which is more common in certain breeds. However more studies are still needed to establish which breeds are affected and which aren't.
