Q. I have an 80 lb mastiff can I give him Xanax and Benadryl for anxiety and if so how much is safe and won't make him a zombie?

A. It is unwise ever to give medication to a dog without the express approval of your vet. A better approach would be to determine why the dog is anxious and work on eliminating the causes of his distress. I am available to help with this--just click on the link on my profile page to initiate a consult.
