A. I would treat all your dogs with oral comfortis. The reason being is that bathing your dog will shorten the duration of a topical flea medication but not an oral one. You will need to decontaminate your home as fleas hatch every three weeks. For the dry skin I would start with an oatmeal or aloe bath and then add fish oils and vitamin E into each meal daily. If used regurally this is a natural way to reduce inflammation and improve skin and joint health.
A. Treat all the pets for fleas. Use a topical preventative such as Frontline Plus for at least 3 consecutive months, preferably year round. Clean the environment (vacuum all over, wash all bedding) then use an area treatment such as Knockout ES to keep fleas away. Consider adding an essential fatty acid supplement (usually a fish oil) to the diet to promote healthy coat and skin. Search www.pet360.com for fish oil supplements. If the itching continues, see your vet for an exam to rule out other external parasites.
