A. A dog that has congestive heart failure needs to be on medications like diuretics and specific cardiac medications based on X-rays, bloodwork and an echocardiogram. There is no cure. There is just management with these medications. If your dog is currently having trouble breathing from congestive heart failure, you need to get him to a veterinarian immediately so they can give medication by injection and give him supplemental oxygen until his symptoms can be controlled with oral meds.
