A. Yes having a high protein low carb diet such as Purina DM or Hill's M/D can lower the blood sugar naturally. However insulin is still needed to control diabetes.
Cats especially are able to go into a diabetic remission through diet and insulin therapy. Having their glucose levels checked monthly, preferably through either a glucose curve or a fructosamine check (checks the glucose levels 2 weeks prior, this is prefered for cats because their stress from going to the hospital can cause their glucose to increase erroneously).
