A. I am so sorry to hear that your pet has a tumor. Tumors in the colon or just outside the rectum can cause major issues with your pet. Also they can be cancerous and can spread to other vital organs such as the lungs. I would highly recommend you consult with a veterinarian about potential removal of the tumor or even chemotherapy if this is an option. Your pet is older so he may or may not be a good surgical candidate. Hopefully you can sort through the pros and cons moving forward with such an involved surgery like this and can make the best decision for your pets overall care and well being. Best of luck. - Dr. H
