Straining and liquid feces can be due to intestinal upset or colitis which can often be managed with medication and/or diet change but can also result from a partial obstruction in the lower bowel where only liquid fits around but solids do not. I recommend you arrange an appointment for investigations of this which may require a full physical exam with possibly x-rays, bloods and advanced imaging. Maintain fluid intake as far as possible with fresh water, chicken broth and pedialyte to reduce the risk of dehydration and weakness until her appointment
