A. Porteinuria can have various causes, some benign, some caused by disease. Benign reasons would be Change in exercise level, fever, stress or seizure activity.
Malign causes: infection or inflammation somewhere in the body, Cushing's disease, Urinary tract infections, kidney disease, heart failure, cancer,
Most of those can be ruled out by additional blood tests.
A. It may indicate high blood pressure, kidney infection/disease or be evidence of kidney damage. Diet can also play a role. This last reason can be easily remedied with the appropriate diet changes. Any of the other potential causes should be addressed by your veterinarian.
